What MyAlumPass Is

MyAlumPass is a verified digital identity and rewards card for university alumni. Every pass holder has had their identity confirmed: name, date of birth, and a selfie matched against their NIN or BVN record. This means every pass in the network represents a real, verified graduate.

The pass is issued as a digital card, available as a PDF download and addable to Google Wallet on Android or Apple Wallet on iPhone. It carries a unique QR code that merchants scan to verify the holder and apply the correct discount. No app is required from the member's side.

This is not a loyalty points scheme. MyAlumPass is a verified identity and access card. The value comes from belonging to a trusted, verified network, not from collecting points.

The Member Journey

Member logs in to the portal

Members access MyAlumPass through your alumni/school's member portal, the same portal they use to manage their profile, pay dues, and access other member services. No separate account is needed.

Member applies and pays

The member selects MyAlumPass, reviews the benefits, accepts the terms, and completes payment securely online. The pass fee is fixed and set by MyCo, with the same rate applying across all partner alumni/schools.

Identity is verified digitally

The member completes a one-time identity verification using their NIN or BVN. They provide their ID number, date of birth, and a selfie. The system cross-checks these against the relevant identity database automatically, typically in seconds. This step only happens once and renewals skip it entirely.

Pass is issued and ready to use

Once verification is complete, the pass is approved automatically. The member receives an email confirmation and can immediately download their pass as a PDF, add it to Google Wallet on Android, or add it to Apple Wallet on iPhone. The pass is valid for one year.

Member presents pass at merchants

At any partner merchant, the member shows their MyAlumPass on their phone. The merchant scans the QR code, the system displays the member's photo and pass details, and the merchant confirms their identity before applying the discount. The entire process takes seconds.

Identity Verification: How It Works

Every MyAlumPass holder has their identity verified before their pass is issued. This is what makes the card trusted and meaningful. Merchants know every pass holder is a real, verified graduate.

One-time only: Identity verification is only required once. When a member renews their pass in subsequent years, the system recognises that they have already been verified and issues the renewed pass automatically on payment with no repeat verification needed.

Where verification is only partially successful, for example because a member's last name has changed after marriage, your alumni/school's admin team can review the application. They will see exactly which fields matched and which did not, and can make a judgement call on whether to approve the pass. The system gives your team the full picture so they can make an informed decision.

Your Alumni/School's Admin Controls

Your alumni/school's admin team has a dedicated MyAlumPass management area within MyCo. From here you can:

  • View all pass applications and their current status (pending, approved, or rejected)
  • Review applications where identity verification was only partially successful, see a breakdown of which fields matched, and approve or reject based on your judgement
  • Issue complimentary passes directly to specific members, for example to reward executives, board members, or scholarship recipients, without requiring them to pay
  • Export a full list of pass holders and application history for your records
  • Add your own community merchants, such as alumni-owned businesses, to the MyAlumPass deals directory so your members can benefit from familiar local brands

Dues Compliance

MyAlumPass can be configured to work alongside your alumni/school's existing dues structure. If a member has outstanding dues above a set threshold, their pass application can be held until their account is in good standing, making the pass a natural incentive for dues compliance.

The pass is a reward for active membership. Alumni/Schools that use MyCo for dues tracking benefit from this automatically. The system reads dues balances in real time and applies the rule without any manual intervention from your team.

What Your Alumni/School Needs

To launch MyAlumPass for your members, your alumni/school needs:

  • An active MyCo account. MyAlumPass runs on the MyCo platform. If your alumni/school is not yet on MyCo, we will set you up as part of the onboarding process.
  • A member portal. Your members access and apply for their pass through your alumni/school's MyCo member portal.
  • A named contact. One person at your alumni/school who will be the primary point of contact for the MyAlumPass partnership.
  • A signed alumni/school partnership agreement, which formalises the relationship and sets out the launch timeline and the responsibilities of both parties.

The Onboarding Process

Initial conversation

Get in touch with us at info@myalumpass.com. We will arrange a short call to walk you through the programme, answer your questions, and confirm that MyAlumPass is the right fit for your alumni/school.

Agreement signed

We send you the alumni/school partnership agreement. This covers the launch timeline and the responsibilities of both parties. Once signed, we begin setup immediately.

Your MyCo setup is configured

We configure the MyAlumPass feature on your MyCo account, set up your member portal, and add the MyAlumPass product to your store. We test everything end-to-end before handing over to your team.

Admin team briefed

We walk your admin team through the management tools, covering how to review applications, how to issue complimentary passes, and how to add community merchants to the deals directory.

PR and launch

We coordinate a joint announcement across MyCo and MyAlumPass channels introducing your alumni/school as a partner. We ask that your alumni/school amplifies this announcement to your own community for maximum reach. Members can then begin applying for their passes immediately.

Pass Pricing

The MyAlumPass fee is fixed and set by MyCo. It is the same across all partner alumni/schools, which protects the value of the pass and ensures no member pays more than another simply because of which alumni/school they belong to.

About the Pass
No. The MyAlumPass fee is fixed across all partner alumni/schools at ₦5,000. This is intentional. A consistent price protects the value of the pass and ensures fairness across the network. No alumni/school can charge more or less than another.
Not directly, as dues and MyAlumPass are tracked separately in MyCo. However, you can make both available on your MyCo Store so members can add them to a single basket and check out together. This gives members a seamless experience without mixing up how dues and pass purchases are recorded.
Yes. Your admin team can issue complimentary passes directly to individual members from within the MyAlumPass management area, for example to reward executives, board members, or scholarship recipients. A zero-value invoice is generated on the member's record for transparency.
Yes. Subject to standard merchant eligibility criteria, you can propose alumni-owned businesses, such as restaurants, retail brands, or professional services, to be added to the MyAlumPass deals directory. This is a great way to support your community while adding value to the pass.
Each pass is valid for one year from the date of issue. Members receive a reminder when their pass is approaching expiry and can renew directly through the portal. Renewal does not require repeat identity verification.

Identity Verification
If a member's last name no longer matches the name on their NIN or BVN record due to a name change after marriage, the verification will be partially successful. Your admin team will be able to see exactly which fields matched and which did not, and can choose to approve the pass manually if they are satisfied the member is genuine.
No. A member's NIN or BVN number is never stored in plain text and is never visible to merchants, other members, or anyone outside of the verification process. When a merchant scans a pass, they only see the member's name, photo, and pass status. No sensitive identity data is ever exposed.
Both NIN and BVN are accepted for verification. If a member does not have either, they will not be able to complete the digital verification step automatically. In that case, your alumni/school's admin team can review the application and manually approve the pass if they are able to verify the member's identity through other means.
No. Identity verification is a one-time step. Once a member has been verified, their pass renews automatically on payment in subsequent years with no repeat verification required. This makes the renewal experience quick and frictionless.

Using the Pass
The pass is not tied to a device. Members can log back into their portal on any device and download their pass again as a PDF, or re-add it to Google Wallet on Android or Apple Wallet on iPhone. Their verified status and all their information is stored securely and is always accessible.
All merchants in the MyAlumPass network have signed a participation agreement committing to honour the agreed discount. If a merchant refuses without a valid reason, members should report this to us at info@myalumpass.com with the merchant name and date. We take this seriously and will follow up with the merchant directly.
No. Every pass is photo-verified and tied to the individual holder. When a merchant scans the QR code, the system displays the holder's photo, and the merchant is required to confirm the person in front of them matches before applying any discount. Sharing a pass is a breach of the member terms and will result in the pass being revoked.

Accessibility and Reach

MyAlumPass is launching with a strong focus on Nigeria first, building a credible and meaningful merchant network before expanding. This is a deliberate choice. A smaller network of genuinely excellent partners is far more valuable than a large directory of mediocre ones.

That said, diaspora members are not without options. A number of the benefits on the platform are ones that members abroad can use on behalf of family and friends back home. For example, a member based in the UK can use their MyAlumPass to arrange a health check for a parent in Lagos, or to purchase a gift or service for a relative. As the network grows to include more online and internationally accessible brands, the relevance of the pass for diaspora members will increase significantly.

The pass itself is also a meaningful symbol of verified graduate identity regardless of where a member lives, and this dimension of the card will become increasingly valuable as the network matures and grows beyond Nigeria's borders.

Affordability and accessibility are central to what MyAlumPass is trying to achieve. The pass is deliberately priced so that the benefits available to holders far outweigh the annual cost. That balance is something we take seriously and actively protect.

There are currently no planned changes to the pass fee. If that were ever to change, alumni associations and their members would be notified well in advance, with ample time to renew at the existing rate before any new pricing takes effect. We would never implement a price change without proper notice and without ensuring it remained justified by the value the pass delivers.

Technically, yes. An alumni association can configure a dues threshold so that members with outstanding dues above a certain level are not able to apply for a pass until their account is in good standing. This can be a useful tool for associations that want to use the pass as a reward for active financial membership.

That said, our strong recommendation is to make the pass available to all members, regardless of their dues status. Here is the thinking behind that. The pass is one of the most tangible, visible benefits your association can offer. When a member who has drifted away receives their MyAlumPass and starts using it at partner merchants, it reconnects them to your association in a very direct and personal way. That reconnection is often the first step toward re-engagement, renewed interest, and eventually dues payment. Restricting access to the pass removes that opportunity entirely.

The pass works best as an open door, not a gated reward. Associations that have adopted this approach tend to find that the pass strengthens the case for membership and dues participation far more effectively than withholding it does.
